How Can I Become a Carer?

Becoming a foster carer is a significant step in someone’s life, both for the carer and the young person who will be placed with them. It is therefore important that the process is thorough and comprehensive.

Application/Assessment Process

In general terms there are three separate steps in the process, and this section will give you an oversight of them all.

The first step in the process is the ‘Application Process’.

Dependent on the outcome of the subsequent Pre-Assessment visit, you may proceed to the next step, which is the ‘Assessment Process’.

The final step of becoming an Approved Foster Carer involves attending, and being recommended by, our ‘Panel’.
